SUBJECT: The Parks Service is conducting wild dog aerial baiting of threatened and endangered mammals at public access sites. This project has been authorized by State Farm by a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Parks, dated April 2014, (S/M.28).

The proposed wildlife management action is being implemented by a contractor and supported by State Farm’s Wildlife Management Unit. The contractor is working with a program specialist and a veterinarian who will be participating as program staff for the duration of the project, and will work with the Parks Service to train program personnel in the techniques and procedures that will be used. The program specialist will provide the program staff with the latest information regarding the wildlife management program, and the contractor will assist the Program Staff to prepare and execute a protocol which is in compliance with and to address the protection and conservation of endangered species and other wildlife species on behalf of the State Farm Wildlife Unit. The contractor has not and will not solicit an individual dog’s attention for the wildlife operation; they are only responsible for capturing the animal.
